AI-PRISM is a European Union-funded project (grant agreement N° 101058589) focused on developing an ecosystem of AI-powered, human-centered robot interactions for smart manufacturing. The project aims to foster collaboration between humans and robots in manufacturing settings, particularly for tasks that are difficult to automate and require speed and versatility. AI-PRISM integrates AI, robotics, and social sciences to improve production processes for SMEs, making robots more aware of human actions to reason, react, and interact safely and efficiently. The project addresses challenges faced by SMEs, such as the cost and expertise required for cobot implementation, and cultural gaps in human-robot collaboration. Solutions include cobots that learn by watching humans, improved reaction capabilities, enhanced safety, and affordable, modular systems. AI-PRISM also emphasizes the importance of social sciences and humanities to ensure worker ownership and well-being, with a goal of training over 100 workers and reducing workplace injuries.
