The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral and social sciences.
We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support the MuFIN (Multimodal Feedback Generation using Generative Artificial Intelligence) and PartiMeas (Participatory Measurement for AI) projects. MuFIN is pioneering Generative AI-based systems for automated, multimodal feedback in education, with applications in AI in education, learning analytics, and instructional design. PartiMeas is pioneering methods and interactive tools to support non-technical stakeholders in collectively shaping measurement approaches for Generative AI evaluation. The selected candidate will work directly with the leadership for each project and contribute to all stages of the research pipeline, from system development to deployment and evaluation in authentic learning environments.
This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with primary work at the Carnegie Mellon campus.
