About EFFECT Photonics
Where Light Meets Digital - EFFECT Photonics is a highly vertically integrated, independent photonic semiconductor company addressing the need for high-performance, affordable optic solutions driven by the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth and faster data transfer capabilities. Our teams are made up of professional, highly skilled, energized, and enthusiastic people who share a passion for developing and creating high-volume, world-class solutions. We operate globally, with offices in The Netherlands, USA, UK and Taiwan and our teams work collaboratively to make EFFECT Photonics a very dynamic and rewarding place to work.
About the position
In EFFECT Photonics we develop highly sophisticated optical sub-assemblies (OSAs), including high-performance lasers for the telecommunications market. We are looking to expand our optical sub-assembly design team with a highly skilled Laser Characterization and Calibration Architect . The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of experimental design, parameter estimation, and signal processing. In addition to a strong theoretical background, we seek someone experienced in instrument control and Python development for calibration automation and data processing. A solid understanding of laser physics and familiarity with optical test equipment are highly valued.
Every tunable laser is calibrated as part of our production line to ensure it operates at the exact required optical frequency and power. As a Laser Characterization and Calibration Architect, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the framework that automates this process. This framework builds multivariate models of laser behaviour to predict suitable setpoints for our tunable laser products. The role involves close collaboration with team members across electronics, mechanics, optics, and thermal design. It also requires working with firmware developers to ensure correct OSA behavior during and after calibration. Additionally, you will manage the transfer of the calibration process to operations.
At EFFECT Photonics, we value ownership. Our new colleague will be given the autonomy to take charge of their projects and drive innovative solutions. We operate in a multidisciplinary environment, where the new hire will serve as the go-to expert in the calibration process, supported by highly knowledgeable colleagues from adjacent domains.
